Congrats on the publishing! And these were really fun sketches to look through. Have any plans for the gilded pages? Will they be easier or harder to make art with?
Thanks, James. I've found that the pre-gilded books aren't any harder to paint than un-gilded books. The trickiness of fore-edge painting in general comes from the detailed nature of the work, and the fact that one can't have too much water or paint on the brush or the pages will buckle. I am becoming more than a little obsessed with this art form!
I shall have to plan what what to paint on the books, but they will certainly be scenes from the book stories themselves, such as Robinson Crusoe.
I'm still not over the art my friend!!! (I might crosspost this next month when I finally get back to Substacking lol)
Also, yes, 6 am wakeups are truly the best. It's been most of my 2024 and truly one of the best things for me creatively and spiritually. Getting to tend to those two things before the craziness of the day is such a blessing, and I'm glad you've been finding the same!
It makes me incredibly happy to bring characters to life and see people's joy over it! :D
Yes, it has taken me many years to get to this point and rid myself of insomnia but I have finally managed to get something of a schedule going! I look forward to the benefits of early-rising for 2025 and it's good to hear it from another creative, too. :) I think I certainly assumed I was a 'night-owl' because so many of my friends and fellow creatives were. But that's not true for everyone...in fact it's more than a little self-destructive haha.
I was a night-owl too! Regularly up until 3 am in college lol.
We have a lot more power over our daily rhythms than we give ourselves credit for. It's just that the initial friction of starting one habit or another can be difficult to overcome :)
Congratulations and Merry Christmas!
The same to you and yours!
Many congratulations on your publication! Well done. It's truly deserved.
I can't wait to see what you do with the gilded books you've been gifted. And your drawings are beautiful. Your work is always a joy to see.
Thank you, Jennifer! It's beyond exciting to hold one's own work in one's hands.
I look forward to sharing more of my work here. :)
