This is so beautiful! Your sister was blessed to receive such an incredible gift. And I do hope you send out updates on your Inktober projects. I'd love to see what you're working on.

Thank you Jennifer! I haven't gotten much done for Inktober but I will compile it next week.

Amazing! I’ve spent a lot of time in the company of many artists from my art-school days on, and I’ve witnessed the unfolding of a wide variety of creative endeavors, but this is a first for me!

It's an art-form that has almost died out so I'm not surprised...I only found out about it by chance through a TV program. It's so beautiful! Most fore-edge pieces are in museums because they belong to an older time period.

(The art of gilding is also sadly on the decline, and from what I could learn, it takes far greater skill than a fore-edge painting. I am strongly considering learning how to gild -- that way I can create a vanishing fore-edge painting on any book I need, instead of searching around for already-gilded books.)

That's crazy!

Can I make a suggestion? Not sure how you feel about videos but it'd be cool to see more of those. Revealing the painting in that way could easily be mistaken for magic. Coolest thing I've seen today.

Thankyou! Agreed, the videos are really the only way to show the 'magic' of a vanishing fore-edge painting. Seeing it disappear beneath the gold when you're holding it in real life instantly turns everyone into an awestruck child -- that feeling of wonder, I think, is the true mark of 'magic'. :D

Really cool to see how much your fore-edge painting skills have improved from the last post! Excited to see future projects.

Thank you! Adding colour to my art is a new skill for me, but I'm hoping it comes more naturally with practice.
